Hamburgers

Our cousin, Zack, had his graduation party this past weekend. They had a barbeque themed party. My Aunt Shannon has been loving all of the cake pops we have been doing so she challenged us to hamburger making. That's right, cake pops that look like hamburgers. I'm not going to lie they were alot of work but we think they turned out pretty cute.

These hamburgers are made with peanut butter candy melt for the bun. The peanut butter definitely gave them a different taste but they were still delicious!

These hamburgers have rye buns. We have a few kiddos with peanut allergies so we had to please all parties involved.

Two peas in a pod
Thank you Shannon for challenging us to Hamburger pops! We had a blast doing them and they really got our creative juices flowing. Peanut butter and jelly sammys anyone?

Baby Girl

Our friend Sara, from the gym, had a baby girl on Sunday night. Krista whipped up a batch of cake pops with pink candy melt and put together a bowl of pops for her.

The whole slew of Pops

Here is a picture of the finished result. I think I am going to set up shop outside the hospital and sell them to people as they go in. Good idea, right?

Cherry-Filled Cake Balls

So I decided to do a little experimenting with cake balls. I filled them with cherries! YUM! They turned out to be quite a hit. I think the following picture will make your mouth water.

Note the following pictures were taken with a real camera =]

Look at that cherry!

I was attempting to get pretty artsy with the candy melt, however I was running low and I cant say the end result is the greatest, but they sure did taste great!

Same Old Same Old

Last night Krista and I made some cake pops. We did the standard chocolate cake, chocolate frosting and just used whatever sprinkles we could find. Next week should bring on some more exciting things, hamburgers and cherry filled cake pops. For now enjoy this picture of last night's treats.

Side note...I think we need to invest in a good camera - these cell phones pictures aren't doing much for us!

Eau Claire Cake Pop

This past weekend, our little Bethany graduated from high school. This Fall she is off to the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire (my Alma mater - Go Blugolds!). In honor of her finishing high school and her being accepted to college we made cake pops in Woodbury color and Eau Claire colors. We were really bad at the whole picture taking thing, so I got one picture of the last, lone cake pop Bethany hid.

Cupcake Bites

There are many different things one can do with cake balls. You can leave them as be, a glorious ball of cake combined with frosting covered in candy melt! Or you can put them on a stick and make cake pops. Or you can make cupcake bites! It's all very simple. You start with your basic cake ball, put it in a mold to make the bottom of the cupcake and top with an M&M and sprinkles. Low and behold - a cupcake bite.

January Cake

I knew we baked in January! Krista stumbled upon some pictures from our baking adventures in January. Katelyn and Brock (our cousins) turned 4 and 3 at the end of January. They had a joint birthday and decided they wanted a snowman cake. The finished result, a his and her snowman complete with carrot noses.

Arent they adorable?

Baby Shower Cake Pops

Our good friend Lisa, from the gym, asked if we would make Cake Pops for a baby shower she was throwing last weekend. We instantly jumped at the opportunity. We packaged them and attached at little thank you note. I may be biased but I think they are adorable!

Bethany's Birthday

Our younger sister, Bethany, turned 18 in May. Lord help us. She requested cake pops for her birthday however she wanted yellow cake. I have come across this amazing chocolate cake recipe and have become obsessed. So yellow cake pops with pink frosting here we come! It was nice to change it up and make them a little different.

America Cake Pops

So after Krista's birthday, Cake Pops have been made just about every week in the Duffey household. They have been made for various events and birthdays.

Krista's good friend Melissa went and taught in South Korea for a year. Before her departure Krista made our first decorated cake. The lovely flag of South Korea.

Melissa just came back home in May. Krista and all her girl friends had a get together to welcome Melissa back to the good ol U.S. of A. Krista designated herself as the dessert maker. The finished product...America Cake Pops!

Krista's Birthday

Krista is not much of a cake eater. However, I did some Internet searching and found some cute ideas and these were the final results! They are more of a truffle consistency so I was hoping Krista wouldn't mind. So I set off to make them. To say the least, Krista LOVED them! She didn't even want to share them!

6 Months of Baking

Ok as promised, here is an overview of the past 6 months of baking. I hope you are ready!

We left off with Brady's Birthday cake which was in September. It was pretty impressive, right?

So here was the next cake...Grandma and Grandpa's 50th Wedding Anniversary cake. This was a 3 tier monster of a cake, completely covered in fondant. It took a lot of time and a lot of hard work - and we have never done anything else to this degree.
Moving into October we decided to make some festive Halloween cupcakes. I believe we ended up making 3 batches of these because they are so stinkin cute.

November, December, and January came and went. I am not exactly sure what we baked but I can tell you we did and it was probably delicious.

In February, Krista had the honor of making a Transformer cake for our cousin Austin. She did an amazing job! The Star Tip was her best friend! We are not exactly sure which way it goes but Austin loved his cake!

The month of March is busy for us with tons of family birthdays. Our Aunt Patty turned 50 this year! We finally got enough stamina and courage to make another tiered cake with fondant.

Well, that's it for the run down. We have been venturing away from cakes and into cake pops and cake balls. It all started with Krista's birthday in April and they have been a hit ever since!

How About an Update?!

Now I know you probably wouldn't believe it but we have been doing baking since November...we are just really bad at updating our blog.

Here is the latest...cakes balls/cakepop/cupcake pops.

Over Memorial Day weekend Tyler and myself went to Milwaukee to spend the weekend with his family at the ballpark. Below is our dessert

I thought it turned out pretty well! This weekend we are making cupcake pops for a baby shower. Post will follow soon. And if you are lucky I will post a recap of our last 6 months of baking.
