Woodbury High School Dance Team

One word to describe these cakes: Huge.

These were seriously the largest sheet cakes we have ever made. The WHS Royals Dance team was having their end of the year banquet on Sunday evening and asked us to make their cakes. We made this first cake for the team:

We had several different textures for the stars.

And then there was this monster. A marble cake covered completely in blue frosting with white pearls to signify each piece. It was large.

Tartan Cake Pops

Awhile back we made some Tartan Cake Pops for our cousin Brady's last hockey game of the season. I had a posted drafted for the week after we made them but came to realize we didnt take any pictures and thought it would be a pretty boring post. However, this week I was look through my cell phone and came across a picture of them. So here you have it, Tartan Cake Pops. Good job Brady, we are so proud of you and your killer moves!

Double-Chocolate Chip Cookies

I took a stab at some double-chocolate chip cookies last weekend and took two crappy pictures. The cookies turned out a lot better than the pictures, but I wouldn't recommend these without a glass of cold milk.

Pistachio Bark

This past weekend I made some pistachio bark. I had seen something similar recently and wanted to try my hand at it. Bark is seriously the easiest thing ever to make. First, I melted chocolate in a double-boiler:

Isn't my double-boiler the cutest? One of my favorite Christmas presents :)

Then I shelled and chopped up some pistachios:
I then mixed some of the pistachios in with the melted chocolate and poured the mixture onto a pan. I sprinkled the remaining pistachios over the top, and placed the pan in the freezer for about 20 minutes. The result was a mix of salty sweet with my favorite nut and dark chocolate. And since I'm the only one around here who seems to enjoy dark chocolate, I made the bark using white chocolate as well. The white had a much better response all around. I recommend it :)

Donna

Tyler's wonderful mother Donna, found some gingerbread men earrings at Kohls and got them for me. Aren't they the cutest thing ever? Can't wait till its Christmas season again so I can wear these!

50

I think we deserve a prize for Worst Daughters of the Year. It was our wonderful father's 50th birthday last Monday and we didn't bake him a darn thing. The plan was to make Special K Bars, because they are his favorite, but I got sick and Krista just got back from Arizona, so it didn't happen. Father didn't seem to mind because it saved him a few extra calories and trips to the gym.

Last week, we made some 50 cake pops for our cousin Tammy. She got them for one her coworkers who was turning the big 5 - 0. I thought it was a perfect time for a photo op for our father to document this big milestone.

Doesn't he look so happy to be 50?
This picture is for you, Uncle Rick!

Krista wanted to get in on the picture action

These cake pops were pretty simple. Dark chocolate candy melt and buttercream frosting for the 50s.

Slew of 50s

50

Just a side note - everytime I say the number 50 it makes me want to break out in song with "Fifty nifty United States..." flashback to elementary school anyone?

Snickerdoodle Muffins

Tyler and I are heading back to Appleton for the weekend. Since I haven't been feeling the greatest I was just going to whip up a batch of Special K Bars, but I was feeling ambitious last night and decided to try a new recipe.

Another Kelly favorite is Snickerdoodle cookies. I found a recipe for Snickerdoodle muffins and thought these might be a good alternative to cookies. I whipped up a batch last night and let me tell you AMAZING! After some sampling we decided these taste best fresh out of the oven. Hopefully they are a hit in Appleton!

Snickerdoodle Muffins

Just like a cookie, but you can have these for breakfast!

Just a side note, the muffin liners were light green with darker green polka dots. I was trying to channel the St. Patty's Day spirit. If only the picture did them justice.
